Rambles
Shouting at the void on my own website instead of the 5 or so that everyone else uses. You can say hi or yell at me on my Reddit Guestbook or at Bluesky.
An IP license without a game! ::
The contract+application to get a license to make a work derivative of Tales of Wonderwhimsy and Wheyr is live now. Which is funny because there's not any information on what Wheyr even *is* right now, but the availability of that license is so important to these games for me, that I just want it to be there already for when the games drop later.
A few more site features to go...!
Jump! Solo is almost ready for primetime. The manuscript is done, the game portion is in Kenna's hands for editing, and the art is in progress. Got a logo person working on a logo, too. My first tabletop RPG release is on the way!!

The idea that good mechanic implementations need patents is misguided ::
Some people think patents should be OK if they're specific enough. But honestly, even specific patents are dogshit. Good implementations don't need to be guarded. The prospective attempts to copy an implementation to eat the original game's lunch hinges on the game being a success already, meaning "copies" come on a delay, when the original is no longer relevant in the market.
Good games take time, good mechanic implementations take time. Patenting game mechanics is not necessary at all.

More Microblog Thoughts ::
Tumblr was already awful before the great exodus to Xitter, despite the fact it was a pre-algorithm and pre-character limit time. But the lack of moderation really let things go to shit. Really, I think the big problem with internet communities in the modern time is the unchecked growth and the lack of moderator oversight. Things were never perfect in the days of BBS and web forum, but man, they were a lot better.

Why Rambles ::
I think there's something effective, to some degree, about the short form word barf. I mean, microblogging. But the algorithmic way it causes people to behave worse to each other, and the way people run amok with no moderator oversight is incredibly problematic. So full disclosure, I only really want to be on places like bluesky *strictly* for networking and getting word out. It's not that I don't like making word barfs, it's just I'll put them here. lol
Also, no limitation on character count is a much better way to write. I think the push to be snappy, to have hot takes, etc. all kinds of ways the algorithm and social media validation cycle rewards extreme behavior is part of why people are so fucking insufferable on social media. I'll try not to be too obnoxious on my own personal "microblogging platform" here.
